Angela Odisho Zaya is an Iraqi academic, educator, and researcher specializing in TESOL and English language education. I am currently pursuing a PhD in TESOL at the University of Duhok, College of Basic Education, Department of English. I hold a Master’s degree in TESOL (2019) and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature (2009), from the University of Duhok, College of Arts.
I have extensive teaching and academic experience across multiple institutions in Iraq, including universities, institutes, and schools. I currently serve as Vice President of the Assyrian Writers League-Duhok and work as an English Instructor at the Centre of Languages, University of Duhok. I am also a Lecturer in the Sureth Language and Literature Department at the College of Education, University of Duhok.
Previously, I held academic positions at several universities, including the College of Languages (Translation Department), Cihan University, Duhok Polytechnic University, and Ararat Private Technical Institute. I have also worked as an English teacher, translator, and program supervisor in various educational and humanitarian organizations.
My professional interests include language teaching methodology, translation studies, educational psychology, and the integration of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in education. I have participated in numerous international and local training programs and conferences focused on pedagogy, classroom management, assessment, professional development, and human rights.
I am fluent in Assyrian and Arabic, have a very good command of English, and a good knowledge of Kurdish. I am also skilled in educational technologies, leadership, and academic mentoring.
I am an active member of the Assyrian Cultural Centre and the Kurdistan Association of TESOL Educators.
