IT Executive, Academic Instructor, and Cultural Pioneer
Mahir Awrahem is a distinguished academic, software expert, and community leader who bridges advanced modern technology with the preservation of Mesopotamian heritage. With a multi-disciplinary background in computer science, mathematics, theology, and business, he serves as a foundational pillar for modern Aramaic (Syriac/Sureth) higher education in the United States.
Multi-Disciplinary Expertise: Holds a B.S. in Mathematics (University of Mosul), an M.S. in Computer Sciences (University of Detroit Mercy), and an MBA in Applied Computer Sciences. His professional career features over a decade of leadership as an IT Specialist Supervisor and Section Chief for the U.S. Federal Government.
Educational Innovation: In 2009, he established the university-credit curriculum for Aramaic Language and Culture courses in partnership with the University of Detroit Mercy. He also developed the official Chaldean Aramaic App for the global platform Mango Languages in 2017.
Academic & Community Leadership: Spent over two decades teaching advanced computer programming across Michigan universities (including Oakland University and Baker College) while directing grassroots language courses for adults and children at the Chaldean Cultural Center and Ishtar Cultural Center.
Civic Distinction: Served as President of the Ishtar Cultural Center, on the Board of the Assyrian Aid Society of America, and as a Senior Member of the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol.
